Argentina's Ministry of National Security initiated on Wednesday (9) the extradition process to Brazil of Argentine Diego Hernán Dirísio, known as "Mestre das Armas." He is identified by the Federal Police as South America's biggest arms trafficker.

Dirísio was arrested by Interpol in February 2024, accompanied by his wife, Julieta Nardi Aranda, who also had a preventive detention order issued. The couple is suspected of being part of a scheme to illegally import weapons for Brazilian criminal factions.

In December 2023, the Federal Court of Bahia received a complaint against Dirísio for international arms trafficking. The PF investigation indicates that, in the three years prior to the arrest, the group would have intermediated the entry of a large volume of firearms and ammunition into Brazil.
