Algeria decided to break diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, the Algerian Government announced today. This decision marks a moment of rupture in bilateral relations between the two countries.

The measure comes after several years of accumulated tensions between the two countries. During this period, Algeria regularly accused Abu Dhabi of interference in its internal affairs.

The diplomatic rupture represents a significant worsening of relations, moving from diplomatic tensions to a formal break in diplomatic contacts.
