The Court of Accounts of the State of Piauí issued alerts to dozens of Piaui municipalities whose personnel expenses exceeded the limits established by the Fiscal Responsibility Law. The legislation determines that personnel expenses cannot exceed 54% of the current net revenue at the municipal level.
The alerts are part of a progressive control mechanism provided for in the Fiscal Responsibility Law, which establishes warning stages as expenses approach or exceed the permitted limits. The objective is to give managers the opportunity to adjust their accounts before suffering more severe sanctions.
The list of warned municipalities was made available by the Court of Accounts, allowing the population to monitor the fiscal situation of each municipal administration. The Court of Accounts reinforces that the systematic monitoring of personnel expenses is fundamental for the financial health of the municipalities.
The Fiscal Responsibility Law establishes progressive alert limits: when personnel expenses reach 48% of current net revenue, the municipality receives the first warning. Values above 50% configure a more serious situation, and the excess may result in sanctions against managers, including fines and administrative impropriety.
