Lisbon City Council ordered to pay 463,700 euros for GDPR violation in Russiagate case

The Southern Central Administrative Court ordered Lisbon City Council to pay a fine of 463,700 euros for breaches of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The local authority was found responsible for violations related to the case known as Russiagate.

The case dates back to 2021 and is related to the sending of data from activists who opposed Vladimir Putin's government to the Russian embassy. This fact led to the opening of proceedings that have now resulted in the conviction of Lisbon City Council to pay this high fine.
