The Federal Police launched an operation on Thursday to investigate the financing of the film Dark Horse, a biopic about former President Jair Bolsonaro. The agency is investigating the alleged diversion of parliamentary budget amendments for the production of the film, carrying out 49 search and seizure warrants issued by Supreme Court Justice Flavio Dino.
According to the investigation, the presidential candidate for PL-RJ, Flavio Bolsonaro, allegedly requested $24 million — approximately R$134 million at the exchange rate at the time — from banker Daniel Vorcaro, former CEO of Banco Master, to finance the biopic of the former president. The information was published by Intercept Brasil in May.
The film's budget stands out for widely exceeding typical national market standards. Dark Horse's budget would be higher than that of award-winning films O Agente Secreto (2025) and Ainda Estou Aqui (2024), for example. With $24 million, it would also be possible to produce 15 of the last major international films.
