The minimum wage in Portugal is expected to rise again in 2027, but with different values depending on the region of the country. According to the Economy and Finance website, three different amounts are planned: 970 euros on the mainland, 1,018.50 euros in the Azores and 1,050 euros in Madeira.

In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Regional Government led by Miguel Albuquerque has already made the political commitment to advance with a new increase in the regional minimum wage, from the current 975 euros to 1,050 euros in 2027. This region already practices a minimum remuneration above the national level and intends to further widen this difference.

In the Azores, the regional minimum remuneration results from a 5% increase relative to the national minimum wage, which set the value at 966 euros during 2026. If the rule remains and the national minimum wage rises to 970 euros in 2027, the Azorean regional value would reach 1,018.50 euros.

The national minimum wage value for 2027 depends on the benchmark agreed upon in 2024, which provides for annual increases of 50 euros. The evolution defined in this reference framework points to: 820 euros in 2024, 870 euros in 2025, 920 euros in 2026, 970 euros in 2027 and 1,020 euros in 2028. The final decision will still need to go through the usual negotiations between the Government and social partners.
