The director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, was removed from the position on Tuesday by Supreme Court Justice André Mendonça. Subsequently, Andrei appealed to also Supreme Court Justice Flávio Dino to try to regain the position, using as argument the inquiry that investigates whether money from parliamentary amendments was used to finance the film "Dark Horse," which tells the political trajectory of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
Dino went against Mendonça's decision and accepted Andrei's request on Wednesday. In his argumentation, the Federal Police delegate stated that the measure could have an impact on this year's electoral process and could "interfere" with the choice of the team responsible for investigating the feature film, especially at this moment when the Federal Police received the files related to the case.
The president of the Supreme Court, Edson Fachin, subsequently suspended both contradictory decisions and kept Andrei Rodrigues in the position of director-general of the Federal Police.
On Thursday, Dino ordered an operation to investigate suspicions of irregularities in the financing of the film "Dark Horse," continuing the investigations into the alleged improper use of parliamentary amendments to fund the cinematic production.
