Jornal Notícias da Covilhã10 September 2026 at 12:06

The project "A Caminho das Estrelas" is an initiative to enhance and promote the gastronomy, culture and identity of Central Portugal, promoted by the Regional Tourism Entity of Central Portugal and the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency of Central Portugal. The official presentation is scheduled for Monday, the 14th, at 12:30, at Pena D'Água Boutique Hotel & Villas, in Covilhã, with the presence of the president of the Central Portugal Tourism Entity, Rui Ventura.

The project will run for six months, between September and March 2007, covering the eight sub-regions of Central Portugal. During this period, eight gastronomic and cultural experiences will be created, one in each territory, involving Ambassador Chefs, other chefs and restaurants, producers, artisans and local communities.

Developed in coordination with the "Sabores ao Centro" program, the journey will have as its major moment of international projection the MICHELIN Guide Portugal 2027 Gala, in Coimbra, in March. Central Portugal Tourism states this will be a unique opportunity to reinforce the notoriety and positioning of Central Portugal as a gastronomic destination of excellence.

The global gastronomic curatorship is in the hands of chef Diogo Rocha, who explained that each experience will depart from the identity and endogenous products for a comprehensive journey through the region's gastronomy, art and culture. The project will give voice and prominence to chefs, producers, products, knowledge, heritage and communities, revealing the diversity and authenticity that distinguish the region.
