D. Pedro V Market traders fear losing customers due to new traffic changes: 'I had customers saying they won't come back'

Notícias de Coimbra10 September 2026 at 11:42

Traders at the D. Pedro V Market in Coimbra express great concern about the new traffic changes implemented in the city centre. The changes are affecting customers' access to the market, creating circulation difficulties.

According to the traders surveyed, some customers have already expressed their intention not to return to the market due to the new access conditions. The reduction in parking convenience and changes to access routes are cited as the main factors for this loss of clientele.

The situation is causing a negative impact on sales at the market establishments, with traders fearing serious consequences for the sustainability of their businesses. Many believe the changes were implemented without adequate prior consultation.

Local authorities have not yet presented compensatory measures to minimise the effects of the changes on local trade, which has been increasing frustration among the owners of the D. Pedro V Market establishments.
