The National Statistics Institute confirmed that year-on-year inflation in Portugal reached 3.3% in August. This value represents the cumulative growth of consumer prices over the last twelve months.
The institution also stated that underlying inflation, calculated through the total index excluding unprocessed food products and energy, registered a variation of 2.6%. This indicator is frequently used to assess base inflationary pressure, eliminating the more volatile fluctuations.
The underlying inflation value of 2.6% remained identical to that recorded in the previous month of July, suggesting stability in underlying inflationary pressure despite total year-on-year inflation standing at 3.3%.
