The parents of a 15-year-old boy who died in 2021 are demanding a 500,000 euro compensation in a civil lawsuit against a teacher and the congregation that owns the school where the incident occurred. The student died when a goalpost fell on him during school activity.

The criminal court has already convicted the teacher for negligent homicide, recognizing that the teacher was responsible for the accident. The investigation revealed that the goalpost that caused the young man's death was not fixed to the ground, which contributed to the accident.

The civil lawsuit now filed by the parents aims to obtain financial compensation for the death of their son. The case is being tried in Leiria, where the tragic event occurred at the educational establishment.
