The Portuguese Government extended until December 31, 2026 the support associated with colored and marked diesel, a measure intended to compensate for the rise in fuel prices caused by the Middle East crisis. The discount is 10 cents per liter and benefits agricultural and forestry activities. The regime was created by Decree-Law No. 80-A/2026, of March 31, and covers holders of cards issued by the General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development registered in the IFAP database. The extension until the end of the year should represent an expense exceeding 15 million euros for the State.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Sea also announced a new notice from the MAR2030 program, with a global allocation of 18 million euros to compensate for the exceptional increase in production costs in fisheries, aquaculture and processing and marketing of fish. Of this amount, 13 million euros are specifically destined for the fisheries sector, 4.5 million are reserved for processing and marketing, and 500 thousand euros for aquaculture. The MAR2030-2026-25 notice was published on September 4 and applications run from September 11 to October 12, 2026.
Eligible expenses for fisheries support refer to the period between February 28 and December 31, 2026. The calculation of support varies according to the segment and size of vessels, taking into account the historical weight of fuels in sales volume and the rise observed in fuel prices.
The Executive also maintains an extraordinary ISP discount equivalent to 23 cents per liter, with VAT, on both diesel and gasoline, a measure that joins the new support measures adopted to respond to the current energy crisis.
