The PS-Madeira Parliamentary Group will submit today, to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, a request for information to the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology about teacher staffing needs at the start of the 2026/2027 school year.
The Madeiran socialists intend to obtain clarification on the placements and hirings made, the shortages still existing in the region's schools, and the planning foreseen for the next five years.
The request for information specifically questions how many positions remain unfilled in schools, how many teachers were left without placement, and what the impact of these gaps is on the functioning of the regional educational system.
This initiative by PS comes in the context of the start of a new school year, a period traditionally marked by difficulties in assigning teachers to schools, particularly in the autonomous regions.
