The Cascais Municipal Council maintains, 11 years later, the intention to acquire the Estoril Circuit. Nuno Piteira Lopes, the local authority official, announced that he will meet in October with the new management of the circuit to discuss the possible purchase.
The Estoril Circuit was recommended for sale by the State, which opens the way for the local authority to proceed with negotiations. However, this is not the first time that Cascais has tried to complete this acquisition.
In 2015, a similar deal was rejected by the Court of Auditors, which identified irregularities in the process. The local authority now intends to avoid past mistakes and find a solution that complies with all legal requirements so that the transaction can proceed.
