Foreign tourists' consumption in Portugal also registered an increase, with 5% more transactions carried out compared to 2025. However, the growth in value was limited to 1%, which suggests that foreign visitors made more purchases, but with lower unit values.

Each transaction carried out by foreign tourists in Portugal had an average value of 39 euros, indicating a moderate consumption profile during their stay in the country.

Inflation rises to 3.3% in August

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Portugal reached 3.3% in August, representing a rise of 0.3 percentage points compared to July, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
