South Korean cinema continues to gain ground at major international film festivals. The film "Hope", directed by Na Hong-Jin, was selected to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most prestigious events in the global film industry.
The feature film is described as a derivation of the traditional conventions of the science fiction genre. However, critics point out that the work fails to stand out significantly, being considered an uninspired production within this genre.
The film's presence at the French festival demonstrates the continuous interest of South Korean cinema in asserting itself on the international scene, following the success of other South Korean directors who have already gained recognition at Cannes and other major showcases.
