Residents of Rocinha, a community located in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro, will be able to compete for funds to transform ideas into community-based tourism experiences. The Rocinha Mundo Afora project opened registrations for the Experiências de Cria contest, which will select five initiatives created and executed by residents in the areas of culture, gastronomy, art, music, ecotourism, and creative economy.
The initiative is promoted by Embratur in partnership with the NGO Cieds. The objective is to stimulate local entrepreneurship and income generation through experiences that value the identity and knowledge of Rocinha.
Each of the five chosen projects will receive R$ 5 thousand to put the proposal into practice, totaling up to R$ 25 thousand in prizes. In addition to the financial investment, the selected participants will take part in a specialized mentorship cycle to develop their initiatives.
