SEGA explains why it cancelled the Super Game project after years of work and investment

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General10 September 2026 at 09:19

SEGA explained the reasons that led to the cancellation of the "Super Game" project, an ambitious initiative announced in 2021. The project's goal was to develop productions for the international market with a significant online component.

Shuji Utsumi, the company's president, was the one who revealed the reasons for the cancellation. According to him, the project was terminated after a detailed analysis of the resources needed for its development and maintenance.

The decision to cancel Super Game came after years of work and investment on the part of the Japanese company. The project failed to stand out enough to justify continuation given the high costs involved.

Idle savings cost Portuguese families hundreds of euros per year, says Revolut

A Revolut study reveals that Portuguese families hold 89.1 billion euros in current account deposits, losing approximately 706 euros annually for every 10,000 euros in potential earnings by not investing in diversified markets. The institution warns that, with one-year deposit rates around 2% and inflation at 2.2%, idle money loses real purchasing power, and that mobilizing these savings for investments could generate 6.3 billion euros in annual growth capital. The study, which surveyed 1,000 adults in Portugal, identifies inertia, lack of financial literacy, and fragmentation of financial services as the main barriers to investment, with 44% of respondents unable to correctly assess the relationship between returns and inflation. The European Commission, represented by Maria Luís Albuquerque, has defended that keeping money in the bank results in losses, echoing the conclusions of the European Wealth Erosion Index.
