The head of Israel's mission in Spain, Chargé d'Affaires Dana Erlich, said she was "surprised" by references from the Spanish government president, Pedro Sánchez, to Israel's alleged exploitation of the migratory crisis in Ceuta. Erlich considered that disinformation has been used to repeat lies that had nothing to do with Israel.
During a speech at the Nueva Economía forum in Madrid, introduced by former president José María Aznar, Erlich made a sarcastic observation about the tendency to blame Israel for various problems. "Someone told me that maybe one day they will blame us for the death of Manolete," she stated.
The Israeli diplomatic representative assured that her country is being used as a "smokescreen" in the discussion about the crisis in Ceuta. She emphasized that it is surprising that Israel is mentioned in this context instead of focusing on Ceuta's security, while Spain faces a national emergency.
