Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) is demanding explanations from the Regional Government of Madeira regarding the decision not to proceed with the transfer to the Region of the former Educational Center, located in Santo da Serra. The position was stated by JPP's deputy to the Assembly of the Republic, Filipe Sousa.
The demand arises after the Minister of Justice, Rita Júdice, indicated that the Madeiran Executive no longer intends to keep the property. This information represents a reversal in relation to the position previously defended by the Region.
Filipe Sousa considers that there is a clear contradiction between the current position of the Regional Government and the one that had been previously defended. The parliamentarian questions the reasons behind this change of position on the part of the Madeiran Executive.
The former Educational Center of Santo da Serra was a property that was expected to be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, but the abandonment of this process now raises questions about the future of the infrastructure and about the commitments made by the Regional Government to the national authorities.
