Kazakh Elena Rybakina achieved a historic milestone in women's tennis by securing she will become the 30th player to reach the top of the WTA world ranking. This achievement came after her qualification for the US Open semifinals for the first time.
Rybakina, of Kazakh origin, achieved this feat by passing a decisive phase of the tournament in New York. Her run to the US Open semifinals was enough to secure the world number one position.
This will be the first time Rybakina occupies the WTA ranking throne, entering an exclusive group of only 30 players who have managed to reach the top of the world ranking throughout history.
