Spain's Ministry of the Interior created, in 2024, a secret dossier that classified 280 journalists and commentators according to their political orientation. The document contained descriptive comments for each profile, including expressions such as "Supports the Government", "anti-Sánchez" and "controversial".
This revelation provoked strong condemnation from the opposition and from press freedom defense organizations, who consider the measure an attempt to control and intimidate Spanish media professionals.
The Spanish executive has not yet officially commented on the existence of this dossier, but the situation places the government under strong political pressure, at a time when freedom of the press is a sensitive topic throughout Europe.
