The new school year in Madeira began with congestion at the usual bottleneck points on the Via Rápida. Those coming from the eastern part of the island and travelling on this fast road face traffic difficulties, particularly in the Cancela area, where a traffic jam of approximately two kilometres forms after 8:30 am. The congestion is due to the heavy traffic characteristic of the return to school and not to any road incident, although yesterday the situation was made worse by a broken-down vehicle. Traffic problems are also reported on the Santa Rita climb, affecting drivers who use this road during the morning.
