The Voluntary Firefighters of Madeira were called out during the early hours of this morning to an operation in downtown Funchal, after an alert of a possible flood. The mobilization occurred around 1:10 AM, when the alarms sounded at the fire station, alerting the members of the corporation to the urgency.
The situation was reported as a flood with water pouring from a residence on Rua da Queimada de Baixo. The firefighters promptly made their way to the location, following the intervention protocols for this type of occurrence.
Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighting personnel found that the situation was not as serious as initially reported. Instead of a flood, it turned out to be just a leaking tap in the residence.
The situation was quickly resolved and restored to normal, without the need for additional resources or more complex interventions by the firefighters.
