Rio Lena in Parque Verde with "concerning" pollution values

Diário de Leiria10 September 2026 at 08:00

The Oikos environmental association carried out water collection at 18 points in the Lis Hydrographic Basin, having analyzed the pollution values recorded in these areas. The results obtained are within the historical values documented in recent years in that region.

However, the organization warned of the existence of a specific contamination focus in the Rio Lena, near Parque Verde. This particular point presents pollution values considered concerning by the entities responsible for the study.

The situation raises questions about the need for stricter protection and monitoring measures in that area of the Rio Lena, where contamination levels prove more alarming compared to the rest of the analyzed hydrographic basin.
