Palmeiras beat LDU Quito 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals. The match took place at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito.

The only goal of the match was scored by Agustin Giay, who decided the game in favor of the Brazilian team.

Palmeiras were coached by Portuguese manager Abel Ferreira, who was aiming to take the team to the semi-finals of the South American competition.

With this result, Palmeiras take a narrow advantage into the second leg, which will be played in Brazil.
