The internal crisis at the Supreme Federal Court (STF) enters a new stage following the decisions made this Wednesday by the Court's president, Edson Fachin. In a sequence of three rulings, the minister interrupted conflicting decisions by André Mendonça and Flávio Dino regarding the leadership of the Federal Police, removed Alexandre de Moraes from conducting the fake news inquiry, and concentrated at the Court's Presidency the analysis of procedures related to the conflict.
Fachin revoked the designation of Moraes to conduct the fake news inquiry, a function the minister had been exercising since 2019. The acts carried out during the period when he was leading the investigation were preserved.
At the same time, Fachin established a sequence of deadlines and scheduled an extraordinary plenary session for next Tuesday, the 15th, to address a Federal Police (PF) report that shows message exchanges between banker Daniel Vorcaro and Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
