William Siri, PSOL candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro, participated in the second debate in the series conducted by newspapers O GLOBO, Extra and Valor and radio CBN with the candidates for the Guanabara Palace. In the debate held yesterday, he attacked both Eduardo Paes (PSD), who has the support of the main left-wing parties (PT, PSB, PDT and PC do B), and Douglas Ruas (PL), name of the party of Jair and Bolsonaro.
Siri admitted difficulties in the campaign due to the isolation of the PSOL in Rio de Janeiro, but defended Lula's reelection even without political reciprocity, since PT would choose to support Paes. The PSOL candidate said he hopes to attract voters who reject the right, but have reservations about Paes's four terms as mayor, to whom he opposed as a councilman.
With only 1% of voting intentions in the Quaest poll released the day before yesterday, Siri seeks to position himself as a left-wing alternative for voters who do not identify with the two leading candidates. He arrived six minutes late to the debate.
