After several days marked by high temperatures, the weather will change in Madeira this Thursday, with the return of rain and possibility of thunderstorms. The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere had issued a yellow warning for the south coast of the island and Porto Santo due to the heat.
The forecast indicates precipitation during the day, although the scenario is not one of persistent rain throughout the archipelago. In Funchal, Meteored points to light rain with probability of precipitation that could reach 70%.
The instability may become more evident during the afternoon, a period when there is possibility of showers and thunderstorms in some areas. The expected amounts are reduced, about 1.5 millimeters for Funchal. On Friday, the possibility of precipitation does not disappear entirely, although it may vary between different points of the island.
Temperatures remain high for the season, so the rain should not mean a sharp drop in temperatures. The weather conditions can vary considerably between the north coast, south coast and mountainous regions, so it is advisable to follow updates to the weather forecast.
