Senator and presidential candidateFlávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) arrived in Roraima on Thursday with the goal of campaigning for two Senate candidates from his party who will be together on his stage, but are locked in an internal dispute over resources and space within the party. Federal deputies Nicoletti and Hélio Lopes, both from PL, support the presidential candidate and called their supporters for the visit to Boa Vista.
The two candidates arrive at the visit in quite different financial situations. While Nicoletti received R$ 3.1 million from the party's national leadership to finance his campaign, Hélio Lopes had only R$ 500 thousand so far. The R$ 2.6 million difference puts the latter at a significant disadvantage in the electoral race.
Flávio Bolsonaro will declare support for both candidacies during his passage through the state, which elects two senators this year. The attempt to demonstrate unity, however, occurs amid a dispute that exceeded the internal boundaries of the party and reached the Attorney General's Office for Electoral Matters.
Hélio Lopes is described in the article as a historical ally of the Bolsonaro family, which makes the disparity in PL transfers even more significant. The war between the candidates threatens the facade of unity that the party tries to project in Roraima.
