The Roman Villa of São Cucufate, located in Vila de Frades, in the municipality of Vidigueira, was selected to represent the Baixo Alentejo region in the grand final of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal. The monument, which preserves remains of an ancient Roman villa, is one of the heritage highlights of the Alentejo region. The final of the contest is scheduled for Saturday and will take place in Sintra, where the seven new wonders of the country will be announced. This selection places Baixo Alentejo among the regions represented in the competition that elects the most emblematic monuments of Portugal.
