Forró and piseiro singer Zé Vaqueiro will perform a free show in Rocinha, South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, on October 2nd, a Friday, at 8 PM. The stage will be set up at Via Ápia, the main access to the favela. The attraction marks the opening of the celebrations for Northeasterner Day Month, celebrated on October 8th.
The Rocinha community is considered one of the largest in Latin America and has a strong presence of Northeasterners. The artist already has a prior connection with the location, having made a surprise appearance on March 28th during the "Forró na Roça" event, when he took the stage and delivered hits to the residents.
According to reports from residents, Zé Vaqueiro asked to visit the favela, eat and drink with his team, demonstrating humility and friendliness during the visit. João Bosco, president of the Rocinha Residents' Association, highlighted the importance of the artist's representativeness for the community.
João Bosco stated that Zé Vaqueiro is a very humble artist and has a legion of fans in the favela. He added that it will be a gift for the community to attend a full show by the artist, reinforcing the positive expectations for the October event.
