Serge Rangoni: "There is an inaccessible castle side at CCB"

Observador10 September 2026 at 00:02

Seven months after taking office, Belgian programmer Serge Rangoni spoke openly about the Centro Cultural de Belém, referring to an "inaccessible castle side" at the CCB. This was his first extensive interview since taking on the new position.

Rangoni addressed various topics during the conversation, including the existing power networks within the institution, the issue of gender parity in cultural programming, and the situation of Portuguese artists who he considers invisible in the European context.

One of the points highlighted in the interview was the weight of the transition after Aida Tavares, suggesting that the succession to the position was a significant challenge. Rangoni spoke directly about these issues, presenting his vision for the direction of the CCB.

The article presents the first impressions and positions of the new programmer, who comes to the CCB with an international perspective, being Belgian but with knowledge of the Portuguese and European cultural landscape.
