In Piauí, President Lula announced the connection of the Transnordestina Railway with a 654-kilometer stretch that will connect Eliseu Martins, in Southern Piauí, to Guaraí, in Tocantins. The announcement was made in the state of Piauí and represents a milestone for railway infrastructure in the region.
The project foresees the expansion of railway integration in the Matopiba region, which covers areas of the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí, and Bahia. The new connection aims to facilitate the transportation of agricultural production from the region, which is one of the main agricultural frontiers in the country.
The Transnordestina is one of the main railway projects under construction in Brazil, and its extension to Tocantins represents a significant advance for cargo transport in the Center-North region of the country, reducing logistics costs for agribusiness.
