The Federal Police informed on Wednesday that it will request the inclusion of boy Édson Davi on Interpol's Yellow Notice, an international alert to help locate missing persons. The boy disappeared in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, in January 2024. The request will be made after the child's mother contacted the Federal Police with the suspicion that her son might be among the 163 children rescued during a police operation against human trafficking in Florida, United States.
US authorities informed that there are no Brazilian children among the group located under Operation Statewide Shield. Despite this, the Federal Police decided to continue the procedures to include Édson Davi on the international list of missing persons.
After contact from Édson Davi's family, the International Police Cooperation Unit of the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro followed up on the necessary procedures to formalize the request with Interpol, seeking to expand the search for the boy internationally.
