Who Can Contract a Business Health Insurance Plan?

oglobo9 September 2026 at 21:56

Contracting a health insurance plan involves more requirements than simply having a company or CNPJ. It is necessary to verify the type of contracting party, the relationship of the people who will participate in the plan, and the conditions established for the specific contract.

The National Health Agency (ANS) classifies as a business collective plan one contracted by a company for people linked to it. The regulation also allows contracting by individual entrepreneurs, as long as the requirements established for this modality are met.

Common doubts arise even before comparing prices, provider networks, or product features. Among the main ones are: whether a MEI can contract, how many people are needed, and who from the family can join the plan.

According to ANS, the individual microentrepreneur is one example of an individual entrepreneur who can contract a business collective plan. This expands access to business health insurance plans for small businesses and formal self-employed professionals.
