The Public Ministry decided to provisionally suspend the judicial process related to Germán Conti's transfer to Benfica. The investigation involved Benfica president Rui Costa and concerned the circumstances of the player's signing.
The proceedings had been opened to investigate possible irregularities in the negotiation that brought Conti to the red-and-white club. The suspension means that the case will not proceed for now, but may be reopened in the future.
Rui Costa, who at the time of the transfer held the position of general director of Benfica, was directly involved in the investigations. The Public Ministry did not reveal the specific reasons for the suspension.
This decision comes at a time when Benfica is facing other investigations related to its sporting and financial management. Conti's transfer, which occurred several years ago, is once again under scrutiny from the authorities.
