Ceuta: Opposition demands resignation and trial of the Spanish Government for "state lie"

The Popular Party of Spain (PP), the right-wing party leading the opposition, today demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez after the disclosure of documents containing alerts from Spanish intelligence services about Ceuta. Ceuta is a Spanish enclave in northern Africa.

The Spanish opposition is also demanding a trial of the Government for what they classify as a "state lie". The revealed documents show that intelligence services had previously warned about the situation in Ceuta.

Pedro Sánchez is the Spanish Prime Minister and leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), the party currently in power. The PP is the main opposition party in Spain.

Ceuta is a Spanish enclave located on the north African coast, next to the Strait of Gibraltar, and has been the scene of migratory tensions. The disclosure of the documents with the intelligence service alerts has been the trigger for the opposition's resignation demand.
