A student died at school after being hit by a goalpost. The boy attended a primary school in Gondifelos, in the district of Braga, when the accident occurred during a school activity.
The child's parents sued the State and are demanding compensation of almost 500 thousand euros. The amount requested includes moral and material damages resulting from the death of their son.
The Physical Education teacher responsible for the class has already been convicted of negligent homicide. The teacher was teaching the subject at the time the accident occurred.
The civil case against the State is now proceeding in court, with the parents holding the education authorities responsible for the safety of students during school activities.
