The plane carrying the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to Oslo came close to being hit by a drone as it prepared to take off from Moldova on Tuesday. The information was confirmed by the Norwegian prime minister, Jonas Gahr Store, to Norwegian public television NRK.
The Norwegian prime minister did not reveal the source of the information nor how close the drone was to the plane. Zelensky was traveling to Norway to attend the funeral of King Harald, which took place on Wednesday.
The incident occurs at a time when Ukraine continues to face drone and missile attacks as part of the war with Russia. The Ukrainian leader posted on X about the visit to Norway and the meeting with the Norwegian prime minister, but did not mention the alleged drone incident.
