The creator of the EKUI methodology, Celmira Macedo, defended that improving Portugal's PISA results requires investing in preschool education. Macedo made these statements to the Lus news agency, based on assessments carried out by the Universities of Beira Interior and Catholic of Braga.

The PISA 2025 results, released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), reveal a new decline in the performance of Portuguese youth. According to the data, Portugal recorded a setback in reading and mathematics, returning to levels close to regional standards.

The EKUI methodology, developed by Celmira Macedo, appears to be associated with an educational approach that emphasizes the importance of the early years of learning as a foundation for students' future academic success.
