Target of protest called by Nikolas, Alcolumbre should not react to clash between STF ministers, allies say

Allies of Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) stated that the legislative body should not react to the crisis involving the Supreme Federal Court (STF) before the electoral period. The assessment within Alcolumbre's circle is that the pressures for a response are a natural part of political campaign speeches, and that any decision should only be made after the election results.

Alcolumbre has been pressured by Bolsonaro-aligned parliamentarians, who have used the protests scheduled for September 7th, Independence Day, to try to get the senator to put impeachment requests against Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the STF on the agenda. The previous week, Senator and presidential candidate for PL, Flávio Bolsonaro, complained directly to Alcolumbre.

Deputy Federal Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) called on his followers on social media to hold protests in Macapá, capital of Amapá, which is the electoral stronghold of the Senate President. The protest is scheduled to happen on the Sunday following the news publication.

Alcolumbre's allies believe the situation should be resolved after the elections, thus avoiding any kind of political retaliation in the pre-electoral period. The strategy is not to yield to the pressures and await the outcome of the ballot boxes before making any decision on the matter.

She also warned about the problem of long-term contracts, whose impact affects future generations and which, according to the official, are not being safeguarded by the current system.
