Amazonas professor Bibiano Silva da Costa presented his book to the public on September 7 during the São Paulo Book Fair. The book, titled "The Method of Sequences A and B and the Equations that Determine Only Prime Numbers," was published by Autografia Editora. The work is the result of decades of studies and a trajectory of more than 40 years dedicated to teaching mathematics.
The book proposes a new way to observe the distribution of prime numbers based on so-called sequences A and B and mathematical relationships developed by the author. The proposal begins with the organization of numbers and the identification of composites through sums and equations. After this selection, the numbers that remain in the sequences are presented by the author as primes.
The research also addresses so-called semiprimes and seeks to make the study of these numbers more organized and accessible. Although the subject originates in theoretical mathematics, prime numbers have important applications in today's world, especially in cryptography and digital security.
