The ambassador of the United States of America in Portugal, John Joseph Arrigo, met this Wednesday with the president of the Regional Government of Madeira. The meeting took place on the island of Madeira and marked the occasion when the diplomat spoke to the journalists present.
During his speech, the ambassador stated that the US "do not give in, do not break, and never forget", in reference to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. That terrorist attack caused the death of nearly 3,000 people in American territory.
John Joseph Arrigo also took the occasion to praise Madeira, highlighting the qualities of the Portuguese autonomous region. The diplomat did not specify which concrete aspects earned his praise during the visit.
