New doctors will this year choose their specialized training positions online, a new model that will replace the in-person process. This change represents a significant modernization in the way doctors at the start of their careers access specialized training in Portugal.
The online system is comparable to the one used in higher education applications, providing a more streamlined and accessible experience for candidates. Through this electronic platform, doctors will be able to view and select available positions according to their preferences and obtained classification.
The choice of positions for attending specialized training, within the scope of the 2026 medical residency, will be carried out through the electronic platform of the competitive selection procedure. This information was announced by the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS), the entity responsible for managing this process.
