MPLA DIVERSIFIES THE ECONOMY BY REPLACING OIL WITH… OIL

Folha 89 September 2026 at 17:05

Angola's National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels announced projected investments exceeding 70 billion dollars, equivalent to 60.2 billion euros, for the next five years. These funds are intended for exploration, production, natural gas and energy infrastructure activities in the country.

The Chairman of the Board of ANPG, Paulino Jerónimo, declared that oil and gas "remain strategic assets for the Angolan economy". His statements were made at the seventh edition of the Angola Oil & Gas Conference, held in Luanda.

The article's title, in a sarcastic tone, questions the alleged economic diversification promised by the MPLA, pointing out that investments remain centered on the oil sector, the same sector that has always dominated the country's economy.
