The former Prime Minister and former Finance Minister Mário Centeno reacted to the measures announced by Prime Minister Montenegro, specifically the bonus for pensioners and the IRS reduction. Centeno expressed his position on the way these measures were presented.
According to Centeno, he prefers that budgetary measures be included within a State Budget, instead of being announced in a piecemeal manner, as happened with these measures. His reaction comes in the context of the debate on the Government's fiscal and budgetary policy.
The former government official highlighted that the inclusion of measures in the Budget allows for better organization and financial planning, while "ad hoc" announcements may deviate from this budgetary coordination logic. This position reflects his experience as Finance Minister during Portugal's economic adjustment period.
