The Municipal Pavilion of Valença hosts, between September 11 and 13, the 12th edition of the Eurocity Roller Hockey Tournament, a competition that brings together around 400 athletes from 14 Portuguese and Spanish clubs. The organization anticipates three days of games marked by excitement and fellowship, in a competition that aims to provide participants and the public with moments of celebration around roller hockey.
Among the participating clubs are Valença Hóquei Clube, Hockey Club Pontevedra, Riba d'Ave Hóquei Clube, Associação Juventude de Viana, CIS, A.C.D. Gulpilhares, Club Hockey Oleiros, Hockey Club Frieiras, U.D. Oliveirense, ADS Hóquei, Hockey Club Cee, União Sport Club de Paredes, Hóquei Clube de Braga and Oleiros Clube de Braga. The competition covers athletes of various age categories, from Under-7 to Under-17, through Seniors and Veterans, not forgetting the women's competition.
The tournament is organized by Valença Hóquei Clube, in partnership with the Municipality of Valença and the Concello de Tui, integrating the sporting calendar of the Eurocity Tui–Valença. The initiative also has the support of the União de Freguesias de Valença, Cristelo Covo e Arão and the Associação de Patinagem do Minho.
With a participation that should be the largest ever, the 12th Eurocity Tournament reaffirms itself as one of the highlights of Valença's sporting calendar and as a reference of the pre-season of the sport, promoting the sporting connection between Portugal and Spain by bringing together teams from both sides of the Minho River.
