Clemens Jungsthöfel, CEO of German reinsurer Hannover Re, was appointed president of Insurance Europe's Reinsurance Advisory Board (RAB) for the 2026-2027 term, with Philippe Meyenhofer, leader of PartnerRe, as vice-president. The duo succeeds Thomas Blunck, from Munich Re, and takes office with a work plan focused on market access and regulatory representation of the sector. Jungsthöfel, who led Hannover Re's financial direction for five years before becoming CEO in April 2025, and Meyenhofer, who has led PartnerRe since 2024, highlighted the role of reinsurers as essential "financial shock absorbers" for economic resilience. The RAB brings together representatives from the seven largest global reinsurers: Gen Re, Hannover Re, Lloyd's, Munich Re, PartnerRe, SCOR and Swiss Re.
