The festival O Iminente, created by Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, known as Vhils, celebrates its tenth edition this year, solidifying itself as a singular cultural event in the Lisbon landscape. The festival has traversed a Lisbon in profound transformation, constantly questioning the notions of center and periphery through art and cultural programming.
This edition features an extensive lineup and occupies an unusual space: an abandoned school. The choice of this venue reflects the festival's mission to intervene in marginal territories and give new life to spaces forgotten by the city, drawing closer to the communities that inhabit the outskirts.
Vhils expressed ambitious wishes for the festival's future, expressing the hope that the "Allen Halloween" one day will receive the Prémio Pessoa, thus recognizing the cultural and artistic impact of the event.
Over a decade, O Iminente has distinguished itself through an approach that goes beyond the traditional cultural event, functioning as a project of urban intervention and democratization of access to contemporary art on the margins of the Portuguese capital.
